Here's a list of 4 easy Do-It-Yourself projects you can do to increase the value of your home AND make it more homely. This list is really important because I often see people tapping into their savings just to make their home look better. You don't have to break the bank to improve your home, it's the little details that adds the most character.
This list can work for anyone that’s willing to get down and dirty. You don't have to be a pro to get it done!
Without further a due here is my Under $200 DIY list that you can start working on this week!
Change Your Kitchen or Bathroom Backsplash
Originally way back then backsplashes were created to protect your kitchen and bathroom walls from liquid splatter (like water), but we’re in the day and age where functional art is embraced and encouraged. A nice backsplash can literally change the entire ambiance of a room. The best part about it is it doesn’t have to be pricey, and you can do it yourself.
If you plan on sprucing up your bathroom you may want to consider using new ceramic tile around your bath and shower.
Fresh Paint
A fresh paint job can completely change how your home looks. If you have a more traditional home you may still have colored ceilings. Something as small as painting your ceilings white can really brighten up the place - making it more welcoming.
Keep in mind painting doesn’t always have to be boring, so if you really want to add a WOW factor to a room consider doing an accent wall.
There are a million accent walls that you can look at online until you come up with something unique for your home.
My favorite thing about painting is that it’s inexpensive!
Refinish Floors
If you’re like me, then you prefer hardwood floor over carpet. I like hardwood floors (especially in my properties) because it matches almost any décor; they’re quick and easy to clean, and it reduces dust and allergens in my house.
However, after having hardwood floors for awhile they can appear dull and scratched. You would be amazed at the difference refinishing your hardwood floors could make in your home.
You can rent a machine to refinish your floors from Home Depot and I promise you, you won’t regret it.
And once again, it won’t break the bank!
Change the knobs to Your Kitchen Cabinets
Believe it or not, changing the cabinet knobs in your kitchen can make it look like you brought all new cabinets - without spending the unnecessary money. You can find kitchen knobs for as low as $1 apiece, so this is definitely a DIY project that ANYONE can afford to do.
If you’re really looking to spruce up your home, I truly recommend doing multiple DIY projects in 1 room to give it a complete makeover.
If you don’t know where to start you can give your kitchen a fresh paint job, a new backsplash, and brand new cabinet knobs for less than $1000. You’re friends and family will be amazed and you’ll feel accomplished because YOU DID IT ALL YOURSELF!
Be sure to send me photos or your personal stories on how your DIY projects came out. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
And if you know someone looking to revive their home be sure to share this post!
